Karen Torf
Counselor
I work with adolescents and adults impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, and overwhelming life experiences. Many feel hypervigilant, emotionally reactive, shut down, or disconnected from themselves and others. Some appear high-functioning but feel exhausted inside. My clients often struggle with self-doubt, relationship stress, or feeling unsafe in their own bodies. They want to understand how their past experiences shaped them, regulate emotions more effectively, and build healthier, more secure connections grounded in stability and self-trust.
I integrate traditional talk therapy with expressive techniques like Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and SandPlay to support emotional processing and deeper self-understanding. I also use EMDR, which helps the brain process traumatic memories that feel “stuck.” By gently activating the brain’s natural healing system, EMDR can reduce emotional triggers and ease distress.
You don’t have to keep managing this on your own. Therapy is a space to slow down, feel understood, and begin real healing. If trauma, anxiety, or past experiences are still shaping your present, we can work through them safely and intentionally. Reach out to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward feeling more steady and connected.
