Ariel Shea
Director of Therapy
Ariel is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and has been working with children, adolescents, and young adults for more than 20 years. She has a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Ariel has been in private practice since 2009, with previous experience as a therapist and supervisor in community mental health centers and pediatric psychiatric hospitals. She served as an Adjunct Professor at Metro State University of Denver and supervised interns and therapists as well. She sees her work at Resilience1220 as an amazing opportunity to advocate for mental health and help decrease the stigma around therapy.
Ariel has a great passion for empowering young people and their families to build resilience through education, skills, and the support of those around them. She believes strongly in helping others see their strengths and gain lifelong tools that will help them thrive over the course of their lives. Ariel offers an eclectic approach to therapy, integrating various approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. In addition, she provides specialized treatment for anxiety disorders, including research-supported Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), skills training, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Social Phobia.
