Ariel Shea

Counselor

Welcome! I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been helping children, adolescents, and young adults for over 17 years. I believe in working collaboratively with you and providing a warm and accepting place to get curious about your life and emotions. I believe that with the right tools and supportive people in our lives, we all have the power to rise above and manage the stressors that life brings us. I feel very passionately that no one needs to feel alone in their struggle and the more openly we own our stories, the more compassionate and connected we will feel.

While I utilize various therapeutic approaches in my work, I also have specialized training in treating anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Social Phobia, for which I utilize research-supported Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods, including skills training and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

I have been in private practice for 9 years with previous work in hospitals, schools, and mental health clinics. In addition to my private practice, I have also been an Adjunct Professor at Metro State University of Denver. I completed my graduate training at Columbia University in New York, where I earned a Master of Science in Social Work in 2001. Prior to that, I earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado.Table
